Common Questions About Elder Care Notary

Answers to help families plan

Does my loved one need to be mentally competent?

Yes. Pennsylvania law requires that the signer understands the nature and consequences of the document. We take time to assess this during our visit. If there are concerns about capacity, we recommend consulting with their physician or attorney first.

Can you visit during facility visiting hours?

Yes. We coordinate with each facility's policies and visitor hours. Many nursing homes and assisted living facilities are familiar with mobile notary visits and accommodate us.

Do family members need to be present?

Not required, but often helpful. Family members are welcome to attend. For Power of Attorney documents, the person being appointed (the agent) does not need to be present for the notarization.

What ID does my loved one need?

Valid PA driver's license, PA photo ID, or passport. If their ID is expired, we can often use a facility ID combined with family verification. Call us to discuss your situation.

How long does an appointment take?

We typically allow 30-45 minutes. We never rush seniors. If your loved one needs extra time to review or rest during the process, that's completely fine.
